Who needs a Standard Business Sponsorship

  • Any Australian business that wants to nominate workers on a Subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa.
  • Businesses bringing in overseas talent that they want to retain through to permanent residence via ENS Subclass 186 (Temporary Residence Transition stream).
  • Australian and offshore businesses seeking to establish or expand operations in Australia using skilled overseas workers.

Eligibility requirements

  • Lawfully established and operating Australian business — verified through ATO, ASIC and financial records.
  • No adverse information against the business or its directors / partners.
  • Genuine training and / or contribution to the Australian labour market.
  • Commitment to comply with all sponsor obligations under the Migration Act 1958.

Sponsor obligations

  • Cooperate with Department monitoring activities and provide records on request.
  • Pay sponsored workers at or above the Annual Market Salary Rate and any relevant income thresholds.
  • Notify the Department of changes (e.g. cessation of employment, restructure, ownership change) within set timeframes.
  • Provide equivalent terms and conditions to those of comparable Australian workers.
  • Cover certain return-travel costs, where applicable, when a worker's employment ends.
